India Hicks-Island Girl

Veranda June 2011 featured India Hicks gorgeous Hibiscus Hill Bahamian home.

This British-born style and decorating maven was born with style in her blood. Her father, famed interior decorator, David Hicks, was renowned for creating what he termed, "tablescapes" and Hicks has used this to create "mini-museum" of disparate eccentric objects in their house.

She is the goddaughter to the Prince of Wales (Prince Charles) and was one of the bridesmaids for Princess Diana's royal wedding, her first modeling job was with Ralph Lauren, she has published two books: Island Life and Island Beauty, launched a beauty collection with Crabtree & Evelyn, hosted Bravo Reality show, Top Design, has ran three full marathons and now has launched India Hicks fine jewelry collection. What an impressive line-up.

Here is a glimpse in the artfully decorated house of India Hicks at Hibiscus Hill

Gallery of art bring global allusions to this island house; Tablescape with dark wood and reds and corals.

India's travels on safari in Africa was inspiration for the formal table to be outside and open, set with fresh pineapples, symbolizing hospitality.

Classic Caribbean low key style mixed with the French antique mantel and mirror.

India's desk holds one of her favorite mementos on her desk tablescape: a rose from Princess Diana's bridal bouquet (India was one of Diana's flower girls);  Bedroom walls covered by hand-colored tropical bird prints dated 1820 to reinforce the feeling of a period plantation house. A traditional cotton canopy dresses the four-poster bed.

Antique bed nestles in a nook amid hand-colored English prints.
