Decorating with Persimmons

Persimmons look like a cross between a tangerine and a kumquat but have an indentation and the distinct "dried leaf". I feel like Thanksgiving decor can be tough since people are so eager to get into Christmas decor, but with persimmons, you can easily transition from fall into Christmas and continue using your persimmons paired with pomegranates, cranberries, evergreens or magnolia leaves. I loved some of these ideas since a few of these inspirations can use items from the grocery store or perhaps your yard to decorate for fall. Look for some berries, twigs, pine cones, duty miller or mums and make a nice Thanksgiving centerpiece, wreath or decor for your mantel.

Champagne and Truffle Pineapple

Happy New Year's! What better way to bring in the new year with a twist on champagne as a gift! I came across this cutest hostess gift idea from some German blogs!  A bottle of champagne covered in Ferroro Rocher chocolates (which you can get anywhere) to make it look like a pineapple. Since pineapples are the symbol of hospitality in the South, spruce up the next bottle you bring someone!

This has been one of my favorites where an actual pineapple top was glued on, large champagne bottle was covered in tissue and covered with lots of truffes (86 to be exact) from German blogger, Bitavin. This version send the truffles higher to the top. 

Here is the simplest version I found where you can glue yellow tissue paper squares on each candy then glue to the bottle. from from German site, Echtlustig

This version left the tissue paper that comes on the truffle and the sticker and uses silks for the stem. If traveling, wrap it in plastic for no truffle loss from Conny Simon

Ok I had to do Mushroom Love Part II. Since my last post showed how I used some mushroom decor in mine and my mother-in law's house, but here are some other great inspirations using mushrooms. Do you have mushroom love yet, like me?

Thanksgiving Centerpieces

Are you entertaining or being entertained for Thanksgiving? Either way, here are some great ideas for Thanksgiving decor ideas which could couple as a lovely hostess gift for the aggressive chef who insists you "only bring yourself" on Thanksgiving. I love how many of these images use fruits, vegetables and nuts from around the house and some of these can be slightly altered to be continued through the Christmas season. If centerpieces aren't your thing, the next best thing to entertaining is an awesome cocktail, so check out the 3 fall recipe drinks below.

Beautiful way to display fall nuts from BHG

Candle centerpieces using green vegetables such as artichokes, green beans, asparagus from BHG

Glue acorns to a basket and fill with gourds or flowers from Centsational Style

Vase filled with kumquats and topped with pinecone and greenery are a great way to keep orange hues for Thanksgiving but tie in a little Christmas spirit from Babble.

Fall bountiful basket filled with oranges with clove sticks stuck as decor, kumquats, assorted pines, greenery and pinecones. This can be altered and carried through to Christmas too from BHG.

Fruit and veggie centerpiece that could be fun to make to keep the kids and adults busy while you are cooking and you can switch and use what you have in stock. And, you can use your leftover pumpkin from Hallowee from Martha Stewart

Gather some fall foilage branches from outside, assorted gourds and you can make a festive centerpiece. You could also have this in an entryhall to greet guests, or hang place seating cards, or have little cards with hang tags to allow people to write what they are thankful for, from  Martha Stewart

If a centerpiece is too much, a fun Fall themed drink will do! Have these or bring any of these to your Thanksgiving event and I am sure it will be a hit!

Awesome Easter Decor

With Easter being a week away now, I wanted to share some of my favorite Easter decor images! I love how simple things we have around the house can be used such as cake stands, egg cups, and moss from outside to create a centerpiece! I have quite a bunny collection that are gifts from my family members at Spring that includes some faux chocolate bunnies, and vintage style bunnies, so it was nice to see how some of these are used in display.
