Boathouse Turned into Chic Nautical Man Cave
Architectural Digest featured White House decorator Michael S. Smith's work who was tapped to turn this former boathouse into an guest house doubling as man cave at Lake Geneva. The boathouse sits in front of the main house, so the owner wanted to turn this into something fun for her husband and his friends and desired a pre-war yacht feel. The owner and Smith studied design elements of various boats from the 20's and 30's. There is lots of dark wood millwork, beautiful blue and white fabrics with mixed patterns and nautical accents throughout with the porthole type lights and mirrors, nautical flag chair covers and more.

Outdoor Showers
We took a July 4th trip to the beach and with 2 sandy and salty dogs every day, I came to realize what is an essential for a beach house....Outdoor Showers! I hate feeling sand on the hardwoods, in the bathroom or feel it in my sheets, but I definitely think outdoor showers help with this gritty problem. Here are some of my favorite luxurious outdoor showers. Hope everyone had a great 4th!

Relaxed Casey Key Florida Home
Coastal Living featured this beach house in Casey Key Florida that was designed for a carefree and relaxed environment for family and friends. With four children and 3 dogs under one roof, this home was designed to withstand abuses that come with lots of energy. Lots of white is throughout the house with pops of blue help keep this house looking clean and orderly.
Vintage furniture with chipped pieces and allowing her children to ride their skateboards on the new hardwoods help keep this house low maintenance with a "put up your feet" kind of feel.
White denim slipcovers on the sofa make it easy and carefree where they can be washed in a little bleach every 3 weeks. Sofa from Posh on Palm and slipcovers by Rachel Ashwell.
Custom made benches for the Restoration Hardware teak table make it easier for more people to sit and gather at the table.
The owner's love of antiques continued throughout in the master bedroom.
An outdoor face lift of sage green was given to the previous gray cedar siding giving the home a Key West feel.
The previous bath was tiny, so during the renovation they used space from the screened in porch to extend the bath to allow room for free standing tub.

Coastal Maine
I am heading to Maine this weekend for my friend's wedding and plan on eating lots of lobster. This is my first time visiting Maine and I am so glad my first visit will be during the beautiful fall. I came across this house on Houzz from the talented group at The Knickerbocker Group. Ironically, this house is located in the same area where we are staying in Boothbay, Maine. Send me any of your Maine recommendations for my trip!

Frank Randolph Coastal Blue
We all know blue and white is my favorite color combo! When I saw this Kiawah Island house at Coastal Living decorated by the legendary Frank Randolph I was in heaven! Frank Randolph is based in Georgetown and lives in the house once occupied by Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. The antiques he works with are a lot of Swedish and Danish pieces from the 18th & 19th century!
Various shades of blue and patterns look perfect in this den.
All blue down to the bar items chosen. I love how the napkins and towels are draped over the back of the chairs! The splatter fabric backing the chairs adds a playful touch!
More splatter fun in the powder room with this wallpaper.

Such a beautiful view
