The Interiors of Nancy Meyers' Latest Movie, The Intern

Remember the amazing house interiors from Something's Gotta Give, It's Complicated or one of my fave movies The Holiday which had California modern chic and English countryside cottage? All were directed, written and produced by the famous Nancy Meyers whose interior film sets garner as much attention as her movies.

The newly released, The Intern with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro is the latest Meyer's movie which is set in trendy Brooklyn, NY. Hathhway's character, Jules owns her own beauty e-commerce company is set in a warehouse converted to trendy open office space. Her brownstone was said to be inspired by J. Crew's creative director, Jenna Lyons own Brooklyn browstone.

Meyers wanted to design this home as she thought a mid 30's family with one child may do as with the character and so she purchased some of the furniture from places like Restoration Hardware, Design Within Reach and Room & Board. The brownstone's architectural details are my favorite.

From Hospital to Southern Home

Garden & Gun featured the home of Chris and Beth Collier who purchased this boarded up former hospital and nursing home which was built in 1904. They saw potential with the Georgian style architecture located in the historic district in Washington, North Carolina. Chris is an antique dealer, and his wife, Beth, a former museum curator is now an interior designer who saw this property as a place to showcase their work under one roof.

The entry hall did not receive a lot of natural light so they chose bright red lacquered walls

Lake Burton Home by Pritchett + Dixon

Following up my recent post about boat houses, is a featured house that one of the boat houses belonged too. So with every beautiful boathouse, most likely comes an equally impressive lake house. Famed Atlanta architect team of Todd Pritchett and Craig Dixon from Pritchett + Dixon Architects are staples in Atlanta Homes mag and have designed numerous lake properties in the area. Atlanta is around 5 hours to the closest beach, so some people opt for lake houses instead since they are closer and there are an abundance of lakes within a 2 hour drive or less.

Lake Rabun Home

Atlanta Homes mag featured this lake house at Lake Rabun in North Georgia. The owners, Ann & Warner Veal own Traditions in Tile & Stone so they had access to great tiles which is shown throughout. The owners used designer, Jeff Jones and architects Todd Pritchett and Craig Dixon of Pritchett + Dixon. The house sits 30 feet from the lake and every room including the kitchen has a view of the lake.

To provide lots of room for relaxation two separate living areas were created

Red glass tiled back splash in the kitchen provides pop of color

Walk in shower with views of the river stone walls in the background

Pebble fireplace is see through and can be seen in the master suite as well

Green tiles bring the forestry colors from the lake inside

The hallway family photo gallery made of jute strings and clips allows for new additions to be added easily

Suspended fishing nets give the appearance of headboards

The guest bedrooms were designed smaller on purpose so guests could be downstairs spending time. The headboard is made from vintage survey sticks.

The birch bed gives this room a rustic type feel perfect for the lake

Martha O'Hara

Happy Sunday! I wanted to share some of these great images from Martha O'Hara interiors features great dark woods and rich colors that I love during this time of year. I can just see these houses hosting Thanksgiving then being meticulously decorated for Christmas.
