Framed Bow Ties

With college football just starting, I was reminiscing about my college days, Being from the South, bow ties were the epitomy of Preppy Style. In College, guys would wear bow ties to Saturday College football tailgating and games. Attorneys wear them to the office, guys wear them to weddings and even gift a fun pastel version to their groomsmen. When I came across the framed bow tie collection I thought what a cute idea to use in a walk in closet, dressing room, man cave, or little boys nursery.

Dallas Designer- Amy Berry

I was so excited to share some of my favorite photos from Dallas based interior designer, Amy Berry. I love Berry's use of great patterned wallpapers, encorporating blue and white ceramics, fun art, low key animal patterns and perfectly styled home bars. Berry lived and studied design in London and has brought back the classic European style mixed with her Southern roots.

Stark's Antelope Ax rug that Berry frequently uses in homes.
Sputnik light gives this office a vintage feel, reminiscence of Mad Mens Don Draper's office. Notice Stark's Antelope Ax being used again.

Copper Pineapple Barware

The pineapple has long been a symbol of hospitality in the South & abroad. Early explorers to the West Indies & Americas learned that a pineapple placed at the entrance of a village meant all were welcome. This tradition continued with those who settled in the new land. Sailors would bring this new fruit back to the lands and hang the fruit on their home’s door or set out in the front of their home or gates to signal their return from a voyage and welcome those who wish to come visit!

The cooper pineapples have been popping up all over with the help of Absolut's Vodka Elyx served in their own copper pineapple at hotspots such as Jean-George’s Matador Room in Miami and Andiron Steak & Sea in Las Vegas. I have not been lucky to be served a yummy drink in the infamous pineapple yet, but luckily have found some sources you can get your own! How genious they have a hole for a straw, the pineapple leaves can be turned upside to hold the drink, and your drink doesn't spill when they serve it to you! Have you been served a drink in the pineapple yet?

Styling Very Small Places

I definitely know how it's been downsizing to a third of the space that I previously had, but I know people in NYC or singles have to deal with much less! I definitely have an appreciation for these smaller spaces being desinged so efficiently and stylishly! Even if you have ample space in your house sometimes there is a smaller nook, or room that you may need styling tips so these may help you as well! Could you live in 400 sf or less?

400 sf Manhattan studio that uses this wall to make a seperate sleeping space

295 sf studio with lots of bold design elements such as the red nightstands, large bold lamps, patterned headboard, and chevron painted dresser.

Beautifully styled apartment by one of Ralph Lauren's window stylers' motto for small space design, is "making one small room feel like five." This 425 sf studio uses two twin beds to appear like a sofa.

Small alcove in this cottage sits a guest bed with storage underneath.

425 sf studio looks more spacious with high ceilings and tall windows. The daybed doubles as seating and bed, antique table doubles as dining table and desk.

48 sf "walk in closet" sized kitchen with a mirrored backsplash for illusion of larger space, built in knife sloths, and fully utilizing counter space.

A niche cut out of a hallway houses a childens library nook, but the bed can double as an extra guest bed. Awesome curtains by Pierre Frey "Alpage"

Ships Ahoy this bunk room which features 6 bunks (4 on the left and 2 on the right) which is perfect for kids and guests coming over and would look awesome at a vacation home.

The Interiors of Nancy Meyers' Latest Movie, The Intern

Remember the amazing house interiors from Something's Gotta Give, It's Complicated or one of my fave movies The Holiday which had California modern chic and English countryside cottage? All were directed, written and produced by the famous Nancy Meyers whose interior film sets garner as much attention as her movies.

The newly released, The Intern with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro is the latest Meyer's movie which is set in trendy Brooklyn, NY. Hathhway's character, Jules owns her own beauty e-commerce company is set in a warehouse converted to trendy open office space. Her brownstone was said to be inspired by J. Crew's creative director, Jenna Lyons own Brooklyn browstone.

Meyers wanted to design this home as she thought a mid 30's family with one child may do as with the character and so she purchased some of the furniture from places like Restoration Hardware, Design Within Reach and Room & Board. The brownstone's architectural details are my favorite.
