Stylish Dorm Room of Scout Willis

Scout Willis' (middle daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore) dorm room featured by Style List at the ivy league Brown University is filled with heaps of her personality from photos of her style icons, JFK and Marlene Dietrich to vintage and stylish nostalgics of candles, skulls, mirrors, rabbit's feet, plush sheepskin rugs, and American and Union Jack flags. While this is not your typical dorm room, I did spot a futon and college pendents.
What was your most stylish item in your dorm?

Such a stylish rug for dorm room

Brown University pendent, and Idaho pendent where Scout was born and where she considers home.

This photo reminds me of a vintage style Ralph Lauren ad.

Even this famous celebrity daughter has a futon.

Inside Iris Apfel's Home

The maverick style icon, Iris Barrel Apfel is known for her bold, colorful and playful style and her signature oversized dark rimmed glasses. In 1950, Iris and her husband launched a textile firm Old World Weavers through 1992 and have since sold their company to Stark Carpets but remain as consultants. During this time Iris took part in many restoration projects including work at the White House for nine presidents.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute featured an exhibition of  her colorful and extravagantly accessorized wardrobe. More recently it was just announced she will launch a jewelry line with HSN in September.

She lives as she colorfully dresses as shown by her 3 bedroom Park Avenue apartment featured in Architectural Digest below, which include pieces she acquired on many business trips to Europe through the years.

Iris Apfel shown in a spare room that is filled with her vintage pieces.

"The living room’s bleached-oak boiserie is 18th-century French, and the door hardware is by P. E. Guerin; the screen is also French, while the chair at left, covered in an Old World Weavers tapestry fabric, is 17th-century Sicilian."

"In the library, a Dutch painting is displayed above a Louis XVI daybed covered in fabric Apfel reproduced from a 17th-century French document."

"A collection of singerie tops an 18th-century Venetian bombé chest in the living room; the back of the English chair at right is painted with chinoiserie designs."

"In the entry, an 18th-century English gilt chinoiserie mirror and an Italian console."

"An Italian tole chandelier above a Maison Jansen table draped in a woven paisley throw."

"The first painting Apfel ever bought—a portrait of the Infanta Margarita she picked up 60 years ago at an antiques shop in Florence."

"Bakelite jewelry in the paws of a hand-carved French mountain dog."

"The entry contains an 18th-century French screen (left), an early-18th-century painted Genoese corner cabinet, and Louis XVI–style chairs upholstered in an Old World Weavers cut velvet. The needlepoint carpet is English."

"A hallway is lined with dog paintings and 19th-century English bookcases brimming with volumes on fashion, decorative arts, and Chinese costumes and textiles."

A few of my favorite pieces from her vintage collection:
A circa-1970 Norman Norell evening gown and stole of ivory silk organza with silver paillettes, embroidery, and white ostrich feathers.

A wool-pile Lanvin jacket, circa 1990, designed by Jules-François Crahay, and accessorized with turquoise necklaces, silver-and-ceramic cuffs, and a silver-and-turquoise belt.

A vintage Geoffrey Beene wool-jersey jumpsuit, a silver-and-turquoise brooch and belt, and silver-and-ceramic cuffs.

A circa-1985 House of Lanvin silk-faille evening gown designed by Jules-François Crahay, a Bhutanese upper-arm bracelet, and Tibetan bracelet and necklaces.

Amazing Bathrooms from Elizabeth Dinkel

Elizabeth Dinkel is a West Hollywood designer who has an impressive portfolio and resume. It is no surprise she has been featured in our favorite reads: Trad Home, Elle Decor, Veranda, House Beautiful, etc.

I am captivated the most by her amazing bathrooms. Whether its the luxurious floors and marble, or the way she pairs the perfect wallpaper, mirror and hand towels for a cohesive color palette.

Which one is your favorite?

White and light pink is clean and feminine. I just love the floors.

Another clean look with lots of marble, and small hints of gold. Let's not forget the television by the sink.

Another spacious bathroom with white and minimal pink style. I love the large window that opens.

Love this bathroom with the whimsical fish wallpaper and tissue cover.

A great paisley wallpaper with capiz lighting.

Love how the trim on the linens matches the pineapple in the wallpaper.

Colorful accessories tying the bathroom together

A baby boys bathroom, this is so cute.

A bathroom by the pool, even the towels are cohesive.

Great use of black and white.

Home Alone

I remember going to the movies with my parents to see Home Alone when I was younger and still love the movies today. How could you not adore the house and neighborhood of the McAllister's House? For the low (?) price of $2.4 million, this piece of movie history could be yours. The Coldwell Banker listing agent even created a website for this house: www.HomeAloneHome.com.

This 1920s-era Georgian property includes 14 rooms, 4,250 square feet, is located in the Chicago suburb Winnetka, Illinois, which is around 30 miles from Chicago. Winnetka was named number 4 on CNN Money's  list of America's "top earning cities" and "one of the best places to live". Not only was Home Alone filmed in Winnetka, but Oceans 12, Breakfast Club, National Lampoons Vacation, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, and Uncle Buck.

Check out the movie stills below and the current style of the house, which are dramatically different. Since the movie was filmed in 1990, it does make sense that the house has been updated since then.
